“Sex and the City” Turbans Turn Street Chic
Carrie may have been the first to sport silky turbans on the big screen, but she won't be the last. “Sex and the City 2” sparked the interests of a whole new generation of fans, so it's no surprise that a new wave of fashion took off with the movie premiere. Fashionistas everywhere have been talking about how to make this ultra trendy accessory work. This season, metallic and ethnic prints have become the staple of every celebrity's wardrobe, but new accessories are popping up everyday. Middle Eastern inspired trends have sporadically come onto the fashion scene, but none have become such an instant hit.
Turbans may have been coveted by high fashion models and daring divas, but few people can figure out how to pair them with other trends. While you may not want to pair them with metallic skinny jeans, the good news is that they're perfect for bad hair days. Style experts recommend that turbans are best worn with dramatic makeup and understated accessories. Because much of your hair will be covered, turbans work well to bring attention to your face.
As for the rest of the ensemble, wearing solid colored leggings, flowing tunics and chunky bangle bracelets can really pull it together. Asymmetrical fitted dresses, off the shoulder blouses and loose turtlenecks are also hits when worn with fashion turbans. You don't need to be a fan of “Sex and the City” to appreciate the turban trend, but taking a peak at how Carrie wore her's certainly won't hurt.
